What Is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui literally means Wind and Water in Chinese. This ancient Chinese wisdom is based on the belief that environmental energies can affect our lives and bodies both positively and negatively. Feng Shui allows you to increase positive energy and to correct negative energy.
Feng Shui is often referred to as the Art of Placement. By arranging your home to allow the best possible flow of qi, we can minimise the negative effects of the environment and maximise benefits. “The more advanced a society’s technology becomes, the less in touch with the environment that society will be and the more conflict there will be in the individual human being. Feng Shui serves to reconnect us with nature and the universe, and in doing so enables us to not only understand our environment better but also ourselves” - Master Yu Gui Feng
There are many different schools of Feng Shui, some of which date back as far as 2000 years. At Contemporary Feng Shui we use predominantly Form school, Geomancy, the Eight House system and the principles of Water Flow. We also do Four Pillars readings and Flying Star charts for our clients. As our culture and language are different in Australia to those in China, the origin of Feng shui, we avoid certain aspects of traditional Feng Shui that relate specifically to Chinese superstition eg. unlucky no. 4. We also use calculations specific to the Southern Hemisphere, which we find are more accurate for Australian conditions.
